Pomeranian Price in India with Monthly Expenses

Pomeranians are a small and playful breed, well known for their cute fluffy coat. They are active and confident enough to start barking at large dogs. They have a very charming and friendly personality and get along well with prominent families. But what’s the price of a Pomeranian in India?

On average, a Pomeranian puppy in India costs around ₹5,000 to ₹15,000. The price majorly depends on the location you buy it from. The cost of a show-quality Pomeranian with superior lineage can go as high as ₹1,00,000.

Further in this article, we will look into factors on which the price depends and the monthly expenses of raising a pomeranian. We will also look into the puppy’s average price in different cities of India.

Price Depends on 6 Factors

1. Location

Price highly depends on the location you buy it from. The cost of a pomeranian puppy varies from state to state, as well as city to city.

2. Place you get it from

There are three ways you get a puppy: Puppy Mills: Puppy mills are commercial places where dogs are bred with the sole purpose of gaining profits. These places are horrible. Dogs are kept in miserable conditions and fed low-quality food. You can get a pomeranian puppy here for around ₹3,000 to ₹5,000. We do not recommend buying a Pomeranian puppy from a puppy mill as it can have genetically passed health concerns. Pet Shops: Pet shops don’t usually breed dogs; they purchase puppies from puppy mills. Pet shops sell Pomeranian in India from around ₹6,000 to ₹10,000. Buy from trusted shops that can assure you that the puppy is not from a puppy mill. Breeder: Breeders are people who breed dogs. In India, people become breeders either for passion or to breed their own dogs. Professional breeders are the best place to get a pomeranian puppy. You can get a healthy pom from a breeder in India for around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000.

3. Breed

You can get two types of Pomeranian puppies, Pure-breed or Mix-breed. Pure-breed puppies have both parents of the same breed. At the same time, mix-breed puppies will have one parent of a different breed. Pure-bred Pomeranian puppies cost more due to their better lineage and fewer chances of genetic imbalance. It is said that pure-bred dogs live healthier and longer lives than mix-bred dogs.

4. Age

Another factor is the age of the Pomeranian. Puppies between the age of 7 to 9 weeks are most preferred as they have enough time to be with the litter and learn basic social skills. So there is a higher demand for pomeranian puppies between the ages of 7 to 8 weeks, which affects the price.

5. Registration

If the Pomeranian puppy has been registered under the Kennel Club of India, then expected to pay a couple of thousands more.

6. Bloodline

Bloodline of a puppy matter. If the Pomeranian puppy’s parents were registered as Champions breed, the puppy is from a champion’s bloodline and will cost more. On average, a Pomeranian with a champion’s bloodline will cost around ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 in India.  If the puppy has a superior bloodline and his parents are show-quality dogs, then the price can even go as high as ₹1,00,000.

Monthly Expenses of Pomeranian

Before buying any dog breed, it is necessary to be aware of its monthly expenses. So let’s look into various monthly costs of a pomeranian.

Cost of Feeding Pomeranian in India

Pomeranians are known as toy breeds, and they require comparatively less food.  On average, it costs around ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 per month to feed a Pomeranian in India. The cost highly depends on the quality of dog food you decide to feed your dog. Medium quality dog food has grains and meat by-products listed as their primary ingredient. By-products are leftovers of animals that we humans do not consume. By-products can consist of animal parts like kidneys, intestine, feet, even beaks. It is indeed a controversial ingredient. Grains do have nutritional values, but nothing compared to real meat. If you decide to feed medium-quality dog food to your pom, it will cost you around ₹1,500 per month. High-quality dog foods have fresh meat listed as their primary ingredient. They are much healthier for a dog. These dog foods can cost you around ₹2,000 every month. There are low-quality dog foods too, but we do not advise you to use them. They can be harmful to a dog.

Cost of Grooming a pomeranian in India

A full-body grooming session of a Pomeranian can cost around ₹2,000 in India. However, if you get all the grooming accessories and decide to do it yourself, the cost can go down to ₹500 per month. Pomeranians have fur with long hair. This makes it necessary to groom your pom regularly.

Cost of Vet and Vaccinations

In the first year, you will have to take your puppy to the vet more often for vaccinations, deworming, and regular checkups. The first-year cost of all these will be around ₹5,000 to ₹8,000. After your puppy is one year old, there will be just yearly vaccinations and a few routine checkups. It will cost you around ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 every year.

Cost of Neutering/Spaying

The cost of neutering/spaying a pomeranian in India costs about ₹8,000 to ₹10,000. The price of this surgery depends on the location you live in. The surgery aftercare can cost an additional ₹1,000.

Cost of Toys

It’s not possible to be there for your Pomeranian all the time. You will have to buy some good-quality toys so that your pooch can keep himself busy. During the teething phase, you will have to purchase chew toys to ease the irritation. A good quality toy will cost you about ₹1,000 every year.

Cost of Treats

You need treats to teach your pom commands and tricks. They will cost you around ₹500 every month.

Final Thoughts

I think Pomeranians are the cutest breed of them all. They are small in size and friendly in nature. This makes them a perfect pet for Indian families.
